Fall 2008 Newsletter posted Aug 26, 2008

  Greetings to all CMTA Members,

I trust that you have had a good summer and are ready to enter the new teaching year with anticipation of great things to come!

Please make plans to attend the 49th annual NCMTA Conference October 24-26 at NC School of the Arts, Winston-Salem.  Check your May and September issues of the NCMT Journal as well as www.ncmta.org for conference details.  Our conference is a fabulous chance to network with teachers from across the state, to hear wonderful performances by student competitors, faculty and guest artists, and to get some new pedagogical ideas to try in your own studios.  Come and enjoy reconnecting with old friends and make some new friends, too!

NCMTA Piano Contest-Festival Repertoire Workshop

Saturday, September 6, 2008
Queens University, E.H. Little Fine Arts Center, corner of Selwyn and Wellesley Avenues

Piano teachers, plan to attend one of the NCMTA 2008-2009 Piano Contest/Festival Repertoire Workshops to be held in September 2008. You and your students will benefit greatly from all you learn at the workshop. Attending a workshop is a must if you plan to enter students in the 2009 Piano Contest-Festival. Even if you have no students participating, attendance at a workshop is a terrific opportunity to brush up on pedagogical literature of all eras. You may also discover some lovely and interesting pieces previously unknown to you.

We are proud to feature clinicians Cynthia Lawing and Rob Hallquist to present the literature this year. The clinicians will present each piece by offering a few pertinent insights and then performing the piece. You will receive a detailed handout which may be taken home to help you recall relevant details about each work.
